Description
Rare Saxon pioneers sword in scabbard. Overall length 25in., blade length approx. 18.3/4 in. Single edged "machete" style steel blade to a pleasing grey/ brown patina, with many dings to the edge. One side of the rocaso stamped "P.D.L." in a tablet, the with Saxon crown etc. The integral brass cross-gusrd/ grip/ pommel with "12.A.8.28." stamped into the cross-guard, which is complete but with minor scratches, dings etc. The brown leather scabbard with brass chapes at the bottom and throat. the throat chape stamped "12.A.F.E.93" surmounted by "12.P.H.49" to the opposite side to the frog button. . The brown leather dry, crazed and fragile. The stitching to the rear has bursted. Whole in good overall condition commensurate with age.
