Large African Hunting Knife/ Dagger In Tooled Leather Scabbard

Description

Overall length approx. 22.1/41 in, blade length approx. 10.3/4 in. The single edged steel blade to a pleasing grey/ brown patina with a point to the end and chiselled half moon shaped repetitive design to the centre of one side. There are the signs of the original hand burnishing at the time of manufacture nd finger acid pitting. The hilt/ grips is of dark brown tooled leather terminating in a leather suspension ring (the leather binding to this has started to unravel with a little missing right at the top. The elaborately tooled dark brown leather scabbard is also present with original hand stitching to the rear. The wooden scabbard seems to have snapped at a weak join about half way down it's length, but being held together by the outer leather covering. In reasonable overall condition.
